OGBot v2.2 - no longer free!

New version of OGBot was released, with nice features as usuall, but also with a surprise this time.
The compiled Windows version of the bot is no longer free. Source versions are still free, and I hope it will stay that way.

If you downloaded the latest compiled beta (which was virus free, yay!), you might get a message saying it's expired.
If you want the full benefits, you will have to pay now. The cost is 1-2 € depending on your country.

In my opinion, it's a small price to pay for what it has to offer (copied from OGBot news):

- Support for new OGame login page.
- Login loop fixed.
- Added random delays to simulate human behavior
- Configurable deuterium source planet
- Espionage reports can be copied to clipboard by right-clicking.
- Added chinese, danish, russian and dutch languages.
- New plugin system.
- Harder to detect by game admins.
- A lot less espionages are neccesary, hence less overall activity.
- Before attacks only one probe is sent.
- Much faster inactive planets search.
- Reserved slots are no longer filled with senseless espionages.
- Attacks and espionages from planets with no probes or cargos are deactivated for a while.
- Rush mode at midnight (attack new inactive planets as they are found if they are very rentable).
- Option to stop attacks before midnight, in order to free slots for rush mode.
- Daily inactives scan is now done ASAP each day.
- Any available cargo type is sent if the selected type of attacking fleet is not available.
- Source planet and last espionage time are now shown in the main window.
- Internal algorithms rewritten.
- Minor changes and fixes.
- New translation item added in language files.

Also, the Google Discussion Group is now moved to a new forum. It seems much more convenient this way.
Hopefully now when the bot is no longer free, Kovan will update more often and make it even better than it is.

Careful with new Kovan's

There's a lot of fuss lately going around Kovan's OGbot.
It seems Gameforge is constantly trying to disable it's functionality, as well as catch people that use it. I've even received an email yesterday stating that the latest version is infected with a virus. It was rather hard to believe it, but after scanning it myself I saw it contains a trojan. There are several reports about it on the discussion group as well. There's no official word about it yet, but I'd advise you to be careful about using it until it gets fixed.

Don't get fooled!

Asking for some information about ogame bot

dear everyone here, i am daniel, owner of a ogame cheat blog, i am collecting ogame tools like ogameanlizer, kover's ogbot..etc,and write feeling of using them, you can find them on my blog http://ogamecheats.blogspot.com/ , some of my buddy told me that chinese ogame players are using one of those called OGManage, i tried to test and log into my blog but i can not get a copy. they tell me i can get one in this forum, so i wonder if anyone can send me a copy of OGManage and contact of the developer, my email address is ogamedaniel@gmail.com thank you very much.
I found this post on this chinese forum.
Please note, that is not my email, my name, nor I ever posted that! My email can be found on my profile page, so please be careful who you send your work to. Whatever this Daniel guy is trying to achieve has nothing to do with me.

If you have any information about this, feel free to contact ME. Thanks.

The Best OGame Bot Ever!

I can't help myself, this is too funny not to share with you.
Enjoy!

So I got this email...

Dear Igor,

With this email, I just wanted to advertise you that the most reliable/valuable/extensible/modular and much more OGame Bot is not and wont be released ;)

It includes many improvments of basic (and even advanced) features that others bots have. And more new features that many peeps cannot imagine.

You have a great website and some tips you publish give us again some new ideas :D

Sure we will release something and I think the source code will follow, but I do not think people will have some interest in it when the undisclosure will be done (no date, perhaps after the OGame death).

Moreover I think that real usefull bots for OGame wont be released, just because it means that the OG operators/admins/coders can analyse it easier and find some ways to make them useless.

Cheers,
(name removed).

I received it last night. I was thinking whether to reply or not but didn't actually know what to say - except ask who's Igor.
Anyway, I'm wondering now whether this bot will be released or not. I don't want to sound like a critic, but first you say it won't be published, then you say "something" will be released with undisclosure, and lastly, "real usefull bots won't be released". Now I know what undisclosure is, but it will be impossible to prevent leaking unless you release it only to a very small group of people who you trust (unless I don't know what undisclosure is).
Two things I wanna say: first, what's the point in telling me (or anyone else) that you have the most reliable, valuable, extensible, modular, ... bot if it will never be released? I've stumbled upon a few things so far I would like to write about or try, but the authors made it for themselves and have no interest in releasing it to public. For example, resources finder bot: the author stopped developing it (I bet it's because he couldn't sell it to anyone) and is now trying to sell the source codes. Or OGameAnalizer bot, which in my opinion is overpriced for what it has to offer. But you said it yourself and I understand it - if you release it you can be sure that Gameforge developers will have a look at it and try to prevent it from working. They still visit my blog from time to time. If your bot indeed is so reliable, extensible, etc. then there's no way they can catch anyone using it, right? And if they do figure out a way to disable it, you can again find another way to trick the bastards :)
If you and your group wanna be famous and get a nice PR3 backlink from my blog (:P), you're more than welcome to contact me anytime. I hope you will reconsider and release the bot. I wouldn't even mind if you put a price on it, as long as it's reasonable and worth it.
Also, thanks for the compliments, if you need more ideas send me the bot and perhaps I'll have a few more ideas, or at least send me some screenshots or a list of features I can take a look at.

Thanks for contacting me, and sorry for my opinions.
You're welcome to comment here if you have anything to say.

Poll results: Did you ever cheat in OGame

Today is exactly one month since I asked you if you cheat in OGame or not, so I thought I'll post a short overview about the poll's results.
At the time of writing this, there are 655 votes in total. 129 people have answered yes, meaning they cheat(ed), and 526 people answered no. In other words, 20% cheaters. Just a little more math, since December 13th to this moment, there were a little over 8000 unique visitors, which means 8% of the visitors voted on the poll (if my math is correct).
Does that mean 20% of all players cheat? In my opinion, no. Most of you (40%) found my blog on Google, searching for cheats, bots, scripts... Why would someone who hasn't cheated before search for cheats now? And people who did cheat before are more likely to search for more cheats I guess. Perhaps I asked the wrong question in the poll, but that's why I'll ask another now. What I want to know this time is, did you cheat in OGame before you found this blog. This should give us more exact numbers, and also I'll see if I helped you cheat or if I'm completely useless.

Unification Wars

Unification Wars is an excellent alternative to OGame. Whether you got bored with OGame, or you just want another little addiction, you should consider this.

Why should you play UW instead OGame?

  • 124 technologies - OGame has 15
  • 8 alien races
  • more than 60 artifacts
  • more than 300 single player missions
  • hundreds of different battle strategies
  • cash prizes
  • 33 ships

It looks a bit confusing at start - but this game has hundreds of features that OGame will probably never have. There's plenty of singleplayer missions that guide you through the complexity of this game and help you understand how things work.
It can be played with a normal browser just as OGame, but you can also play with a client if you prefer better graphics and music.
There's no catch. Unification Wars is completely free, it will only cost a minute of your time to make an account and see the advantages it has to offer.

Did you ever cheat in OGame

I've added a little poll here, and I'm eager to see the results after a few days. So the question is: do you cheat in OGame or not? How many of you cheaters are there?
And yeah, I said how many of you, not how many of us. Despite the fact that I'm getting better and better at this, I still play fair; I do have a multiaccount though but it's 3 galaxies away and there was no contact so far - I just wanna be prepared if the day comes.
When did you start to cheat and why? Did my site help? You ever got banned? Share your experience.

Hello Gameforge

I noticed I'm getting visitors from this forum... Nice of you to stop by dear GO's, it seems I'm on the right track here since I got your attention. If any of you guys feel like sharing some inside information I'll be delighted to hear, you can stay anonymous if you want I won't mind.
I'm sure we can work something out ;)

Ogame Multitool

While I personally can't find any good use for this tool, some may find it usefull I hope.
The Ogame Multitool provides several tools for OGame, with very similar features as O-calc: fleet costs, technologies, flight time, mines production, moon destruction, phalanx range, interplanetary rockets range etc.
If you find it usefull, or you just want 'o-calc offline' go ahead and download.

Proxy servers list

I found a better list of proxy servers for your OGame multiaccounts than the one in this post.
You can even check which of them are online from the site, or opt-in to receive e-mails with working proxies every day, although that feature requires payment.
The list can be found here.

Ogame wants you!

I talked a bit about various player's suggestions on Ogame forums in one of my previous posts, but this time I'll help you if you feel like contributing.
I'll use only ogame.org forum, since players from various other localised universes gather there, and it is believed that more serious and experienced players are on ogame.org.
If you want to post your own suggestion, I recommend reading rejected ideas first, then do try reading the general suggestion rules so your thread won't get deleted immediately. Although 99.9% of the things you will post will be flamed, mostly by forum moderators and admins who are too lazy to pass on your feedback to appropriate developers, it's still worth a try if you care about the game.

If you're suggesting a new ship, this program might be handy for you. Be sure to read dead end ship ideas, maybe yours was already suggested.
If you're idea is about something else, you can read about dead end suggestions in general.
I have to admit, what some people post there is complete bullsh**, but every now and then there are, at least in my opinion, brilliant ideas, which get great response from community.
Why there is usually no word about it from developers, I have no clue.

The business of Ogaming

I just visited Gameforge homepage, to see their project/product portfolio. And I was indeed surprised.
They currently have 12 online browser-games. Also, from their website, I found out they have 40 permanent employees.
Judging by this, Ogame is obviously not their only venture, but as far as I know, it is the biggest. I find it a bit frustrating when a company does not seem to care much about their customers.
Ogame is currently localised for 15 different languages. There are dozens of new posts each day on the forums, with quality feedback and suggestions, and only a handful of them were so far taken into consideration, or implemented in game. Sure, there are lots of bugs that need attention as well, but since 2003 when Ogame was released, it has not changed much. They did implement AKS (alliance kampf system), no-fire bug is supposedly fixed, sometimes you have special universes (30% od defenses go into debris and similar), intergalactic research network and alliance depo were not around since start... But all the great feedback they receive from players around the world, about new ships or technologies, is usually either flamed by their forum admins and goes into oblivion, or it is supposedly passed on to developers, never to be heard again.
Ogame is addictive, I can tell you that. But after time, it gets boring. Most people play the same way, there are no new tactics or ships to explore. I am positive there are tons of players out there looking for a reason to start playing again.
Also, and I know this from personal experience, when developers decide to make important changes in game, they have no interest in player's opinion. Usually, there is a poll on forums, and 20+ page discussions, but everyone knows from start their opinion is not important.

I would dare to compare this with another game I'm familiar with, World of Warcraft, by Blizzard Entertainment. WoW is not a browser game, but it is very similar on addiction part.
Blizzard currently has 7 million subscribers and growing each day. But unlike Gameforge (ok Blizzard is a multi-billion dollar company but you will see my point), they are adding new stuff all the time. New content patches are being released every few months, and now, The Burning Crusade expansion is on its way. Blizzard has hundreds of servers powering their game, and are raking in so much money most of us can't even imagine. Now they are in the process of upgrading hardware on all servers because they expect a huge comeback of players when the expansion is released.
Should Gameforge expect a comeback of players? I think not. You played the game, you were good at it, perhaps you had the biggest fleet in your universe, you were unbeatable and now there's simply nothing else to do. It used to be a passion and an obsession, now it's just a annoyance.
I would stop playing long time ago, but I'm just too good at it :D
But as soon as I really get bored, I won't think twice.

Looking for reasons to cheat?

1. You can finally have your revenge
2. Ogame screwed up your life
3. You're bored
4. You know other players are cheating also, why shouldn't you
5. You need resources (we all do)
6. You don't care about your account
7. Cheating will give you an edge cause you can't play all day like some other people
8. Ogame sucks
9. You need a reason to stop playing and ban is ok with you
10. Their ads and bugs and skins and lag and game operators and brainless 12 year old's online 24/7 and posting ridicilous posts on forums are annoying you
11. It's more fun to cheat

...

I'm in top 20 in one universe. I never cheated before, and I can't decide whether I should or not. Lately it seems I'm all alone in the fair play club.
I'm your proof that you can be good without playing 24/7, and you don't need cheats.
Still, if cheating is your preferrer way of playing, knock yourself out. I'll try to help as much as I can.
